31 weeks

There is a lot to update you on. I received a call this week to let me know that my C-section had been scheduled. It is going to be March 17th at 10:15 am. (This is one day shy of 39 weeks). I tried to work with the nurse to reschedule around St. Patty’s Day, but there was nothing else available at the hospital on the 16th or the 18th and the 19th my doctor was going to be at another office seeing patients all day. So, it looks like we are going to have a lucky, St. Patty’s Day baby!

Another bit of news to update you on is the final decision on the name. We have decided it is going to be Cody James Berman. (We will call him Cody). We had not really been discussing the name that much this time. It seemed like we were at an impasse. Everything I suggested was a “no” for him and vice versa. One day, we were out somewhere, maybe at a get together or something and Jimmy just came over and was like, “What about Cody James?” and I said, “I don’t hate it.” And we both went on about our business.

Then we really didn’t discuss it for a while and when we talked about names again, it came back up. We knew it had to have James somewhere in the name because that is Jimmy’s name and both of our dads’ names. But then we had to discuss if we were going to have a junior (I was not big on that idea) or if we were going to get all the way to the hospital without having a name for this baby. My mom said that for both Leslie and me, they were undecided until trying to leave the hospital and the lady from vital statistics would come harass her on pretty much a daily basis, saying, “you can’t take that baby home until it has a name.” So one day last week, I was driving along listening to the radio and they have a contest where you call in to win if you have a child named _____. (It changes each day) Well, I had been thinking about names all day and when were we going to decide, what if we never came up with anything, etc. and they said, “call now if you have a son named Cody.” I just had a gut feeling that that was the name. So I called Jimmy and he was on board. And that, my friends, is how it became final.

I’m feeling great for the most part. It is hard to get a full, deep breath at times and I have to tell you, when I get Hailey in bed each night, I pretty much head to the bed myself. Good rest is just priceless. I would appreciate your continued prayers for Cody’s health and that he stay put until March 17th. J

29 Weeks & a Snow Day

So we received the crib and Jimmy put it together that night. (Thank you Grandma Alysson! I love it!) We put the bedding on and are all ready to go in that department. The color is like a pale baby blue with a little hint of aqua in it. It is so soothing and I am really pleased with it.

Here is Hailey showing off a prize that she got for going poo poo on the big girl potty. When she is interested, she knows exactly what she's doing. She is good to go. BUT (big but) If she does not want to sit on the potty, she is just not having it. Even if you promise to give her candy for trying to go potty. Even if you tell her that babies go potty in their pants. It has to be her idea or you have to be pretty persuasive and then she does just great. I think it is a control thing. I jsut hope that she turns the corner before baby boy is here.

Here are the sunglasses I let her wear in the car if I can't locate her Ariel ones. Isn't she cute?

And here are a couple of pics documenting 29 weeks. Wow, I look tired here.

Here are some fun bath time pics with Hailey's crazy hair. She likes watching herself in the little silver thing underneath the faucet until the horn falls down and then she asks me to do it again.

On the evening of the 7th of January, we starting getting rain, which froze into a sheet of ice about 1/8 of an inch thick, and then the temperature dropped and it turned into snow. It continued to snow through the night and we woke up to the Georgian's version of a Winder Wonderland. Except that we have no salt trucks or streep sweepers or anything to come clean up our roads and it is pretty dangerous to drive on solid sheets of ice. So we stayed home. Better safe than sorry! There were people sliding off the curve in the road outside our subdivision and Jimmy had to go help some people that couldn't get up the small hill in our subdivision. It just wasn't worth risking it.

The next day we felt safe enough to get out and we took Hailey to Monkey Joe's. If you've been a faithful blog reader for a while now, you know that this is one of her alltime favorite places! She loved riding these little cars just as much as the slides.

Christmas Day 2009

We woke up Christmas morning by Hailey coming into our bedroom and saying good morning. Because she didn't have any recollection of last Christmas, we had to ask her, "do you know what today is? Did Santa come to our house? Let's go see!" So we ran into the living room to check it out. Here is a picture of the tree and the mantle this year.

Here are Santa's cookies and milk that we left for him and the bowl of reindeer food (oatmeal with glitter in it) that we left for the reindeer.

Santa ate almost all of his cookies and drank all of his milk. He left Hailey a nice note too.

Here is Hailey's face as she saw all the presents from Santa and took off towards the fire place.

Santa brought all sorts of neat goodies.

Including the pink socks that Hailey had asked him for!

After we ate breakfast together, we drove to Grandma & Grandpa's house to enjoy the Palmer family Christmas. Cayden was there with Adam and Leslie and the boys were there too. Here are Cayden and Hailey posing with Grandma. Hailey got this jacket from Aunt Leslie and absolutely loves it.

She loved getting to hold her cousins and help feed them, etc. Here is Hailey with Grandpa and I think Connor.

Here is Hailey hugging with Aunt Leslie and showing off her new hat and gloves.

Reading a new book from Grandma & Grandpa.

Cayden and Grandpa:

Grandma Hazel & Cayden feeding Jordan (I think). Can't you tell Cayden is a big brother and has this whole bottle thing down!?

And Hailey's John Deere hat from Grandpa. Can you tell she has a special relationship with her Grandpa?

And her Aunt Leslie. Here they are holding one of the triplets (so hard to decipher who's who without them being side by side.) You can see Zachary peeking out over Hailey's head.

An armful of babies:

Santa's Little Helpers. From L to R: (Connor, Jordan, Mason)

And here are some pictures of us documenting 27 weeks.

I hope you and yours had a very Merry Christmas!
